Provisional Psychologist

A Provisional Psychologist in Australia has completed a minimum of 4 to 5 years of training in psychology and is provisionally registered with the Australian Health Regulation Agency (AHRPA). They are in the process of acquiring supervised experience to obtain full registration. Provisional Psychologists offer therapeutic support under the guidance of an experienced registered psychologist who is an approved supervisor. They are trained to conduct psychological assessments and deliver therapeutic support using evidence-based practices.

Fee: $80 (no rebate available)

 

Registered Psychologist

A Registered Psychologist has fulfilled the educational and training requirements established by the Psychology Board of Australia and they hold full registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Regulation Agency (AHPRA). They are qualified to perform psychological assessments and provide therapy.

Fee: $150
Medicare Rebate: $96.65 (with a valid referral from a GP)

 

Clinical Registrar

A Clinical Registrar is a registered psychologist who has completed postgraduate qualifications in clinical psychology and is currently undergoing 12 months of advanced supervised training to become a Clinical Psychologist. They are gaining specialised experience to deliver advanced psychological assessments and interventions. They hold full registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

• Fee: $170

• Medicare Rebate: $96.65

Clinical Psychologist

A Clinical Psychologist has completed postgraduate training in clinical psychology and possesses advanced skills in diagnosing and treating complex mental health issues. They provide a wide range of psychological services. They hold full registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

• Fee: $180

• Medicare Rebate: $141.85

Mental Health Care Plans

Please note to receive a Medicare rebate when seeing an eligible practitioner, you must have a valid Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. Mental Health Care Plans entitle you to 10 Medicare rebated sessions per calendar year. Mental Health Care Plans are valid for 12 months from the date of issue by your GP.
